"On land, all life springs from soil. Soil is ecological currency. If we overspend it or deplete it, the environment goes bankrupt." --Paul Stamets, Mycellium Running: How Mushrooms Can Help Save the World
"A journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step." --Tao Te Ching
Start with a simple act & implement it in your daily activities. Buy your veggies pesticide-free from your local farmer's market. Treat yourself to an organic cup of joe. Buy Fair Trade. Support sweatshop-free. Use biodegradable soap. Shop second-hand. Collect glass tumblers made from recycled glass. Start a compost pile, even if you live in an apartment. Purify your water; better yet, take action for cleaner drinknig water in your home town. Buy Certified Organic when possible. Consider the true price of your steak-burger. Walk the two miles to the store instead of driving it. Whatever your first step may be, know that it is a powerful a deed as a walk on the moon. It may be, as one astronaut put it, "one small step for man, but one large step for mankind."
